The Preschool Project – Part 2

If you haven’t already… check out Part 1 of this topic.  Trust me, it’ll make more sense.

With that said, let me fill you in on the secrets of this project. We took those plastic eggs, opened them, immersed them in water, and added one of the cute little animal toys. We kept the eggs completely immersed and closed them before removing them from the water. Then it was a quick leak-check before gently placing the eggs in the freezer. One of the eggs did require a bit of tape to keep the water inside.

After freezing, we got to play with eggs. The idea was to warm them in your hands until the icy center could be removed. In the center of that egg-shaped cube was a visible toy animal, just waiting to be released from its icy prison.

My wife tried out the project at the daycare/preschool where she works. It went over extremely well. The only problem was a lack of patience from the kids during the melting process. A container of warm water solved the problem.
