Sweet Texting

Ahhh, conversation hearts.  You know, those little heart-shaped Valentine candies with teeny-tiny messages printed on them.  They’re yummy.

My wife loves ’em.  When she buys them I know that it’s time to start planning for Valentine’s Day.  So, as I stared at a couple of candies in my hand, pondering V-day, I found my mind straying from planning.

I realized that the candies were a form of text messaging, before electronic texting was possible.  You could send a message to someone without speaking a word.

Ironically, many of the newer messages are copies of typical text messages.  I’ve even found a couple that read “text me” and “Tweet me.” But then you’ve got a 70’s era “boogie” message thrown in.

Mixed messages maybe?
