My name is Wade Abbott. I am a 30-something husband and father living in Upstate New York. I am a self-described “Ordinary Citizen.” Hence, the title of this blog.
I have a bachelor’s degree in materials engineering from RPI. I am working on a master’s degree in public communication at The College of Saint Rose. I expect to complete the program by the end of 2011.
I served as a Navy Supply Corps Officer after graduating from RPI. After four years of active duty, I resigned my commission as a Lieutenant. Since then I have worked in management, logistics, and engineering for food production companies, a government contractor, and an energy company. I have a broad scope of experience, and I value it greatly.
On the political front, my experience is more recent. Prior to 2009, politics meant educating myself to be an informed voter. That changed completely on April 15, 2009. Along with a fantastic group of Ordinary Citizens, I coordinated the Albany Tax Day Tea Party that drew over 3,000 people to the banks of the Hudson River.
Since then, I have gone door-to-door for local candidates for political office. I have also handled media relations issues for another candidate.
And now I blog.
